Denver teen acting sensation AnnaSophia Robb stars in “Bridge to Terabithia,” opening wide today. It’s a family flick produced by Phil Anschutz’s Walden Media. She met Anschutz at a Denver screening recently.

“I love Walden,” she said when we talked Thursday morning. “The films they make, they’re not goofy. In Walden films, you learn something.”

AnnaSophia has learned a lot over the years, starring in movies with the likes of Johnny Depp, Hilary Swank and Charlize Theron. At 13, she’s not hanging out with Paris, Britney and Lindsay.

“I don’t want to be like that,” she said. “People that age do stuff like that … but they should be a bit smarter in making their decisions.”

You got that right.

AnnaSophia splits her time between moviemaking with the stars and going to school in Denver.

Lonely on location? Sure, but she has a pillow that gets her through the night. It was a gift from her cousin, with all her family’s names on it. “Wherever you rest your head, you’ll know that we’ll always love you,” it reads.

I wish I had one of those.

Over a barrel

Hey, anybody want a slightly used barrel?

Ed and Shirley Smith, owners of Wild Card Casino in Black Hawk, bought Tim “Barrel Man” McKernan’s Broncos fan bucket on eBay in August for $30,000. They held a raffle on Super Bowl Sunday at the casino. Entrants could win the barrel or take $7,777.77 in cash. An unnamed man won it – and took the cash.

Now the barrel sits in Ed’s office.

“We haven’t decided what kind of promotion to do with it,” he said. “We’ll give it away during the season next year.”

And again he’ll offer cash if the winner doesn’t want the barrel. Heck, he could have this thing for the rest of his life.

After a pause, he says, “Yeah, well, that could happen.”
