Hotel aficionados willing to fork over $8 million could become proprietors of Ouray’s historic Beaumont Hotel.
Originally completed in 1886, the hotel was shuttered for more than 35 years before Dan and Mary King purchased it at auction in 1998.
The Kings paid $850,000 and have since done a major renovation, including refurbishing all 13 guest rooms, adding a spa and creating the award-winning Tundra Restaurant.
Tina Carver, the real-estate agent listing the property, said interest in the hotel has been high.
“It’s totally a one-of-a-kind property, a unique opportunity that doesn’t come along very often,” she said.
The Beaumont has hosted two U.S. presidents, Theodore Roosevelt and Herbert Hoover. It was honored with the 2004 Preserve America Award and two other national and state preservation awards in 2003.
The sale price also includes two other properties: an industrial building and a historic downtown building.
