Autumn Hohulin, first in her class at Gateway High School in Aurora, has a 4.0 grade-point average. She has taken honors and Advanced Placement courses as well as classes at Community College of Aurora. Autumn will graduate this spring with 42 college credits.
As president of the National Honor Society at Gateway High, she organizes a community service project each month.
Over Thanksgiving, she traveled with a work team to an orphanage in Magdalena, Mexico. During her Christmas break, she spent two weeks in Haiti helping a missionary family and building benches for a school.
Last year Autumn was given the Masonic Award for outstanding female junior, an honor based on character, integrity, leadership and scholarship.
Autumn has played on the Gateway tennis team since her freshman year and is on the girls diving team.
She volunteers in the pediatric, nursery and emergency units at the Medical Center of Aurora and is a certified nursing assistant.
Autumn plans to get a bachelor of science degree in nursing and then continue on for a master’s as a nurse practitioner. Her goal is to use her medical training and language skills to help underprivileged children.
