Police are searching for a man who lured a developmentally disabled woman into a bathroom stall at the Longmont Recreation Center and sexually assaulted her.
The attack occurred between 1 and 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 25 at the center, 310 Quail Road in Longmont.
The 28-year-old woman was taken into the men’s locker room and assaulted after the man befriended her, police said.
Police were told of the assault later that evening.
On Tuesday, investigators released two composite photos, one of the attacker’s face and the other of a double-heart tattoo that the man has on his left shoulder.

Man gets 13 1/2 years for girlfriend’s death
A 23-year-old man found guilty of manslaughter in the November 2004 killing of his girlfriend was sentenced Tuesday to 13 1/2 years in prison.
Robert Sandoval-Candelaria received 12 years for felony manslaughter and 18 months for aggravated driving after revocation.
Prosecutors said Sandoval Candelaria shot and killed his girlfriend, Sarah Heine, and then took the couple’s 2-month-old daughter.
The child was missing for two days before being found with Sandoval-Candelaria’s mother.
Heine was found dead in her home in the 100 block of Lowell Boulevard.
Prosecutors charged Sandoval Candelaria with first -degree murder, but the jury returned a conviction of manslaughter, a less serious offense.

Church’s fire damage put at $200,000
Damage from a fire at the Church of the Nazarene in Lakewood on Sunday night will cost more than $200,000 to repair, said the church’s pastor, the Rev. Joe McNulty.
The fire damaged administrative offices, a covered breezeway and a small chapel. The main sanctuary had smoke damage.
According to the West Metro Fire District, the fire started in the bathroom of the day-care center and was not deliberately set.

Teen questioned in Evergreen High fire
A juvenile male has been questioned in connection with a fire Tuesday that forced students to evacuate Evergreen High School, but no arrest has been made, police said.
Firefighters were called about 8:20 a.m. on a report of smoke and found the fire in the boys’ locker room. The fire was extinguished, with damage confined to three lockers.
The unidentified “person of interest” is not an Evergreen High student, said Jacki Kelley, spokeswoman for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
The teen was questioned and released to an adult.

Guard arrested in sex-assault case
A 31-year-old female security officer was arrested on sex-assault charges involving an inmate at the juvenile detention center, police said Tuesday.
Investigators learned of allegations that Erin Hutchinson had sexual contact with a 14-year-old boy at the facility in 2005, police said in a news release.
She was arrested at the Police Operation Center but has not been charged.

Clerk’s accused killer bound over for trial
A man charged with murder in the shooting death of a 62-year- old convenience store clerk was bound over for trial Tuesday.
John Andrew Doubleday, 23, faces first-degree murder, among other charges, in the shooting death of Jutte Gallegos Burton.
Doubleday is accused of shooting Burton in the back with a shotgun during a Dec. 10 robbery at a 7-Eleven store in Aurora.
Amie Lewis, 22, Doubleday’s girlfriend, is being held on a conspiracy to commit murder charge.

Tests inconclusive in student’s death
Test results have been inconclusive in the death of a Brady Exploration high school student, health officials said Tuesday.
Samples taken at autopsy were unable to confirm a specific organism that caused the male senior’s death Thursday and a definitive cause of death won’t be determined, according to the Jefferson County Department of Health and Environment.
An investigation focused on whether the student at the charter school, at 5290 W. Ohio Ave., died of bacterial meningitis.

Finance chief picked for Dem convention
The committee charged with hosting the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver has chosen the finance director for Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley to direct its finances here, officials announced Tuesday.
Melissa Koenigsberg has been named the host committee’s chief financial officer and finance director.
Koenigsberg will join volunteers already actively seeking $55 million in cash and donated services, in advance of the Aug. 25-28 convention to be held at the Pepsi Center.
So far, lead fund-raising volunteer Steve Farber says the committee has secured promises for about $23 million.
COMMERCE CITY
Victims identified after party shooting
Commerce City police have released the names of three people who were shot early Sunday morning during a party.
Keith Davidson and Christopher Escobedo, both of Westminster, and Beneradna Trujillo of Denver, all 19, were shot at a home in the 11600 block of Oswego Street, said Sgt. Joe Sandoval .
Trujillo and Escobedo were treated and released for minor injuries, and Davidson is still recovering at a local hospital in stable condition, Sandoval said.
