ELLICOTT, Colo.-

A wildfire forced the evacuation of 10 residents before being contained by firefighters, authorities said.

One outbuilding was damaged and two vehicles may have been damaged, El Paso County sheriff’s Lt. Clif Northam said.

Original estimates placed the fire’s size at 300 acres, but better GPS mapping determined that only 68 acres were scored, Northam said.

The fire, reported at 2:30 p.m., was contained about 5 p.m.

Investigators did not immediately have a cause.
