LAKEWOOD, Colo.-
A man was shot and killed Tuesday while exchanging gunfire with two officers who had responded to a domestic dispute report, police said.
A woman had called police to report her male partner was armed with a handgun and that they were arguing, police spokesman Steve Davis said. The officers exchanged shots with the man after they arrived, but it was not clear who fired first, Davis said.
The man was hit at least once and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Davis said. He said the officers were not wounded.
Names of the man and the officers were not released.
Both officers were placed on administrative leave, a standard procedure, while a team of outside law-enforcement representatives reviews the shooting.
