King of the Road. Long-time Denver radio talk-show host Peter Boyles is paring his schedule to devote himself to two-wheel paradise.
Best known as the morning host on KHOW 630-AM, Boyles is leaving “Colorado Inside Out” and “Colorado Inside Out Live” on KBDI-Channel 12, where he was an engaging and knowledgeable moderator.
Instead, he’s donning his leathers to host “The USA Biker Nation Radio Network” on KHOW (10 a.m. Saturdays). His first show airs April 7 from the Easyrider show at the Denver Merchandise Mart.
A known motorhead, Boyles took the idea of a motorcycle radio show to Glenn Jones, who put it on his nationwide network. Boyles thinks it will be a hit. “If you turn on television, you see motorcycles everywhere. There are 113 magazines devoted to them.” But no radio.
Boyles will continue his morning talk show, and Channel 12 will carry on with the two “Inside Out” shows, using guest hosts after Boyles departs March 30.
Pass it on
KOA 850-AM out with the first in a series of CDs of noteworthy news events, interviews and bloopers.
“Best of 850 KOA” is projected as a monthly series. Included on the initial CD are broadcasts of Mike Rosen talking about the war in Iraq; Wayne Allard declining to run for re-election, and news reports of the Darrent Williams shooting.
Kris Olinger, director of AM programming for Clear Channel-Denver, believes it’s the first time a radio station has put out such a keepsake. The first one is free, $14.95 each after that. Info at 850koa.com.
