DENVER-
Rep. Bob Beauprez, R-Colo., on Wednesday said he is supporting Massachusetts Republican Mitt Romney in the presidential race.
In a letter seeking donations to Romney’s campaign, Beauprez and his wife, Claudia, said they were impressed by Romney’s achievements as former governor of Massachusetts, a businessman, grandfather, and head of the 2002 Winter Olympics.
“Mitt Romney believes strongly in the core principles of free enterprise, fair and free trade, accountability in education, personal responsibility, tolerance, strong families, and a national defense second to none,” the couple wrote.
They also praised Romney’s efforts to close a $3 billion deficit his first year as Massachusetts governor without raising taxes.
Romney’s competition could include Rep. Tom Tancredo, another Colorado Republican. He has not formally decided whether to run but has formed an exploratory committee.
