BISMARCK, N.D.-
Qwest Communications International Inc., is closing its office here, cutting 58 jobs, a spokeswoman says.
The Bismarck office is expected to close in June. Spokeswoman Jennifer Barton said service will not be interrupted to Qwest customers.
“We’re making the change to manage expenses by consolidating operations into larger, more efficient centers,” Barton said.
The Bismarck jobs are among more than 300 Qwest jobs in North Dakota.
“Employees (in Bismarck) may be able to follow work to other Qwest locations. Like I said, we are consolidating the work,” Barton said.
“These transitions are seamless. Customers will not detect a change when it occurs,” she said.
Denver-based Qwest is a telephone service provider in 14 mostly Western states.
