Lauren Carillo, a senior at Horizon High School in Thornton, has a 3.96 grade-point average.

Lauren has been in Girl Scouts for 12 years and has completed the requirements to earn the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouts for girls ages 14-18. Her project was to plan and execute a hair-cutting event to donate ponytails to Locks of Love. The event resulted in a donation of more than 1,100 inches.

Lauren assists at Special Olympics track and swim meets and volunteers in a church nursery.

She is in the marching and concert band, where she plays clarinet and oboe.

She has lettered in academics and band.

She is a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society.

Lauren has been in taekwondo for four years and is a black belt. She has also participated in school and club soccer.

Lauren plans to attend Regis University in Denver to major in elementary education and become a teacher.
