Getting your player ready...

Go ahead, say it:

Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Really rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it?

The $71 million, 18,000-seat stadium opened last weekend with a Colorado Rapids soccer match. Despite its clunky name, the venue already looks like a winner, with the pace of Rapids’ season-ticket sales three times ahead of last year.

The stadium hosts its first concert June 30, when country- pop supernova Kenny Chesney stops by for KYGO’s 27th-birthday show. Commensurate with Coors Amphitheatre and the Pepsi Center in capacity, Dick’s Sporting Goods Park will prove its acoustics at the early summer show.

Many of us remember the debacle that was the Eagles concert at Invesco Field in 2001, when fans in upper decks could barely hear the band. It’s likely that the new park, located in Commerce City, is doing everything it can to avoid a repeat of that.

Tickets for Chesney’s show with Sugarland and Pat Green are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($65-$85, TicketHorse.com)

Norah Jones will saturate the foothills with her jazzy, ivory- tickling pop when she visits Red Rocks Amphitheatre on June 1 with indie songwriter M. Ward. Expect a set heavy on songs from the Grammy-winning artist’s January release, “Not Too Late.” Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($48.50-$60, Ticketmaster)

Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin flit frustratingly between post-grunge and emo histrionics, but both have found receptive audiences. Tickets for their June 21 co-headlining concert at the Fillmore Auditorium are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($35, Ticketmaster)

Goo Goo Dolls, those inescapable radio darlings adept at saccharine ballads and glittering riffs, will play Red Rocks, with Lifehouse opening. Tickets for the June 27 show are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($34.50-$45.50, Ticketmaster)

George Thorogood and Buddy Guy enjoy big followings among modern blues aficionados so it’s fitting they’ll co-headline at Red Rocks on June 19. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($30-$50, Ticketmaster)

Cake will play at CU-Boulder’s Coors Event Center on April 29 for the student-discounted ticket rate of $16.50. Sorry, nonstudents, but you’ll have to shell out $29.50 to see your favorite dry-humor rock band. Tickets are on sale now. (303-492-7704 or TicketsWest)
