DENVER-
The Denver Nuggets added guards Anthony Carter and Von Wafer to its roster Friday, signing both to contracts for the remainder of the season.
Both players were scheduled to join the team in Oklahoma City where the Nuggets were playing the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets on Friday night.
“Anthony is a solid, veteran point guard who gives us depth at the position as we head into the postseason,” Nuggets vice president of basketball operations Mark Warkentien said. “Von is a very talented young player. We feel he has a bright future in the NBA.”
The 6-foot-2 Carter went through training camp with Denver last fall but was waived on Oct. 25. He spent the season in Italy with Legea Scafati Basket.
Carter has played for Miami, San Antonio and Minnesota in seven seasons in the NBA.
The 6-5 Wafer averaged 21 points a game for the Colorado 14ers of the D-League in 2006-07. He signed a 10-day contract with the Los Angeles Clippers on Feb. 21, and was waived Feb. 28. Wafer played one minute with the Clippers.
Wafer was originally selected 39th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2005 draft.
