Shirt story

A white shirt might be a wardrobe staple, but that doesn’t mean you have to wear a boring button-down or starched and stiff oxford.

Select Gap stores are featuring limited-edition designs by three emerging American design labels, Thakoon by Thakoon Panichgul; Doo.Ri by Doo-Ri Chung; and Rodarte by Kate and Laura Mulleavy. The collection, Gap Design Editions, is part of the retailer’s partnership with the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, which supports and encourages new American designers.

Watch for all 10 on the cover of the May issue of Vogue. The shoot included Doo.Ri’s scarf-draped shirt, a tailored camp style and belted shirtdress; Rodarte’s sleeveless style with bows at the neck, a trapeze top and trapeze minidress; and Thakoon’s shirtdresses or tie-neck blouse with puffed sleeves, below.

All pieces are $68 to $88 at Gap stores in Cherry Creek, FlatIron Crossing in Broomfield and Park Meadows in Lone Tree. They’re also at the Aspen store and at gap.com.

The light stuff

Denver-based Osmotics, founded by Francine Porter, long has been a leader in the field of cosmeceuticals, creating skin care products with active ingredients that deliver specific benefits to the skin. It was among the first to use topical vitamin C, blue copper and kinetin, a natural plant growth factor. Now the company is offering light-emitting-diode facial treatments at Nordstrom stores and starting Friday, at a storefront in its LoDo headquarters. The light therapy has been approved by the FDA to treat acne and it’s also being used for rosacea, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles. The store also will sell the complete Osmotics line. Thirty- minute treatments are $50 each, by appointment, 1444 Wazee St., Suite 210. Call 303-534-1800 or visit osmotics.com.

Altared states

When he did his first collection for Target several years ago, Isaac Mizrahi immediately endeared himself to millions of American women. Designer clothes at discount prices became a reality. Other stores picked up the model and fashion was finally democratized. Now Mizrahi has come up with eight bridal gown designs that top out at $160 and a collection of party dresses that run $35-$50. The gowns include a taffeta princess style, a two-piece design with a lace shell and full ball skirt, and a silk charmeuse cowl neck design, right. Women looking for a black-tie party option can order the gowns in black. They’ll be at target.com beginning May 1.
