Republican presidential candidate Tom Tancredo on Wednesday praised the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold a nationwide ban on a controversial abortion procedure.
Tancredo, a five-term congressman who represents the Denver suburbs, called the procedure a “barbaric practice of infanticide” and said he hopes it is the first step toward a broader abortion ban.
He called Roe vs. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion, a “moral and intellectual travesty.”
Wednesday’s Supreme Court ruling said the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act does not violate a woman’s constitutional right to an abortion.
