THE PAPER STARS

Who cares if two other groups out there claim this name? This Boulder band’s country-inflected acoustic tunes are sharp enough to make us forget. The Paper Stars play a Denver CD release party tonight at Old Curtis Street Bar, with Rabbit is a Sphere and Bad Weather California. 2100 Curtis St. 9 p.m.

CAM RECORDS CD RELEASE

This local band-friendly label, run by enterprising students at CU-Denver, will release “Put Your Ear to the Ground” on Sunday at the Bluebird Theater. Featured artists Ian Cooke, Paper Bird, Kathryn Ostenberg & Dash Benison and Aloft in the Sundry will perform. 16 and up, 8 p.m. $5.

THE CHAIN GANG OF 1974

Serrated riffs, thumping beats and ragged chants emanate from this one-man band, a.k.a. Kamtin Mohager. He opens for the excellent Head Like a Kite on Thursday before hitting the long and winding road. Larimer Lounge, 2721 Larimer St. $8. 9 p.m.
