A Boulder district judge has ordered a Lafayette girl and her boyfriend, charged with conspiring to kill the girl’s mother this year, to submit DNA samples and fingerprints.
The samples could more closely link the teens to the killing and the attempted disposal of 52-year-old Linda Damm’s body, which was found stuffed in the trunk of her Subaru at her Lafayette home in late February. She had been stabbed multiple times.
Among the pieces of evidence prosecutors want to compare the samples with are a “goodbye” letter and a “to-do list post murder,” they said in a court filing. When police searched the home, they said they found a “letter to mom.”
Tess Damm, 15, and her boyfriend, Bryan Grove, who last month turned 18 in jail, will have to submit the samples, according to court records. An attorney for a third teen, 18-year-old Jared Guy, said Wednesday that he believes Guy will have to submit samples as well.
Grove is charged with killing Linda Damm, while Tess Damm faces charges of conspiracy. Guy is charged with evidence tampering and being an accessory to the crime.
A fourth teen, 16-year-old Jared Smith, pleaded guilty last month to being an accessory to the crime and was sentenced to two years in youth corrections.
