COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-
A former weightlifter from Petaluma, Calif., has accepted a two-year suspension for refusing to participate in an out-of-competition test.
The Colorado Springs-based U.S. Anti-Doping Agency handed down the suspension to Jason Kristal, 27, on Friday after he declined to take a Feb. 9 test in San Rafael, Calif.
Kristal told the agency he had retired from the sport at the time of the attempted test, but had forgotten to give notice, said agency spokeswoman Carla O’Connell. She said he subsequently submitted the retirement paperwork.
