Giants rookie Fred Lewis made history at the expense of the Rockies Sunday afternoon.
The outfielder wrapped a single to right field in the sixth inning to complete the cycle.
Lewis doubled to lead off the game, hit a three-run homer in the fourth and tripled-in a run in the fifth. The home run was the first of his major league career.
It was the 24th time in Giants history that a player hit for the cycle, and Lewis became the 22nd Giants player to accomplish the feat.
Sunday marked the third time a player hit for the cycle against the Rockies. All have come at Coors Field. John Mabry, now a Rockies role player, did it for the Cardinals on May 18, 1996, and Houston’s Craig Biggio pulled it off on April 8, 2002.
