Evans – Two people were arrested Wednesday in connection with the death of an emaciated 7-year-old girl, Evans police said.

In March, authorities were called to a home in the 3500 block of Marigold Street where they found the body of Loreyna Barea.

Authorities said the girl weighed only 35 pounds and had bruises. An autopsy was inconclusive.

Loreyna’s aunt, Genevieve Barea, and her boyfriend, Dan Partch, who also lived at the house, were arrested on suspicion of child abuse resulting in death, according to a police news release.

The two were granted custody of the girl in 2005 following the death of the her mother.
