Mojo Coffee and Tea World: Long live the independent coffee shop! Especially the ones with good joe and free wifi. Mojo Coffee and Tea World, just south of Belmar on Wadsworth Boulevard, has excellent coffee and tea, and none of the surly attitude that infects so many coffee shops these days. | 650 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, 303-922-8800 | Tucker Shaw

Pierre Wolfe Day: The School of Culinary Arts at the Art Institute of Colorado will honor chef and restaurateur Pierre Wolfe at 11:30 a.m. Friday with hors d’oeuvres and lunch at Assignments Restaurant. Wolfe ran The Quorum and Normandy restaurants for years before retiring to concentrate on his internet radio program, “America’s Dining and Travel Guide,” which airs 1 p.m. Sundays on Business Talk Radio Network. | Assignments Restaurant, 675 S. Broadway. RSVP: 303-733-4518

El Azteca: One of my favorite quick downtown lunch spots, El Azteca makes addictive green chile and generously ladles it over burritos stuffed with shredded chicken, beans and rice (and plenty of other options). Not as overstuffed as that other Denver-based chain, but equally homegrown. | 303 16th St. in the Republic Plaza Food Court, between Tremont and Court places, 303-534-4222; also other metro locations | Kristen Browning-Blas
