The man suffering from a very rare form of tuberculosis has checked out of the hospital in Atlanta and is presumed to be headed for Denver where he will be treated over the next several months.
Officials at the Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta confirmed this morning that the patient, whose identity has not been released, has left the hospital, according to the Associated Press. Hospital officials would not confirm his destination.
A spokesman at the National Jewish Medical and Research Center, which specializes in pulmonary medicine, said on Wednesday that the man’s physician and doctors at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta have agreed to have him treated at National Jewish.
The patient on Wednesday told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he will be treated in Denver.
