The Colorado Open Foundation will honor Denver Post sports writer Tom Kensler on Sunday when the long-time golf writer will receive the prestigous Ralph Moore Golf Journalism Award.
The award, named for Ralph Moore, a Denver Post writer who covered the Nuggets during their transition from the ABA to the NBA, wrote about golf for the Post from 1956-83. Moore covered 23 U.S. Opens, 21 Masters tournaments and 10 PGA Championships in his tenure.
Kensler will be given the award at the trophy ceremony following Sunday’s conclusion of the Colorado Open at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club in Denver. Ralph Moore’s son, Post theater critic John Moore, will present the award.
“Tom is certainly well-deserving of this honor,” said LindaSue Chenoweth, Executive Director of the Colorado Open. “He has done a great deal for the Colorado Open in terms of getting us recognized in the media, and we are proud to call him a friend.”
