CHEYENNE, Wyo.—A 13-year-old girl was killed and four others injured when a pickup truck crashed on the way back from a camping trip of a church group from Littleton, Colo.

The truck drove off Interstate 80 and crashed top down on an embankment at an overpass around 4:30 p.m. Friday, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Inside the Ford pickup, which was pulling a utility trailer, were a man, a woman and three girls, ages 12, 13 and 14.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol confirmed Morgan Buchli, 13, died in the crash.

The other two girls, whose names were not released, were flown to The Children’s Hospital in Denver. The woman suffered a fractured spine.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol identified the driver as Michael Simmons, 55, and the woman as Myrlen Mclean, 47.

Mclean was the mother of one surviving girl, but the victims were not otherwise related, according to Lew Simpson, a spokesman for Laramie County Fire District 2.

The eastbound lanes were closed for an hour and a half after the crash.
