COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Under a partnership with the Denver Newspaper Agency, The Gazette will take over distribution in El Paso County of Denver’s two largest newspapers and four national publications, Gazette President and Publisher P. Scott McKibben said Monday.
The Denver Newspaper Agency has been distributing The Denver Post, Rocky Mountain News, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today and Barron’s financial magazine in El Paso County.
The Gazette will take over, most likely beginning in August, and handle customers’ calls regarding the deliveries, McKibben said. The Gazette also will distribute the weekly Colorado Springs Independent to some Denver Post readers who receive it with their subscriptions, he said.
The Gazette will keep most of the Denver Newspaper Agency’s carriers, although McKibben didn’t have an exact number.
The deal will cut expenses for the DNA and generate revenue for The Gazette, McKibben said.
The Gazette is owned by Irvine, Calif.-based Freedom Communications, a private company with more than 75 newspapers, magazines and other specialty publications.
