SALEM, Ore.—The Oregon attorney general’s office has signed an agreement with a Colorado marketer of adjustable beds concerning sales tactics.
The agreement resolves allegations that Success Marketing Inc. gave misleading reasons for price cuts, made false health claims and took advantage of two elderly customers in selling Craftmatic Beds, said a statement from Attorney General Hardy Myers’s office.
The agreement was filed in Marion County Circuit Court. Under state law, it is not an admission of a violation of the law.
Under the agreement, Success Marketing is prohibited from making false health claims about its beds, and must give customers additional time to consider their purchases. The company must also train salespeople to respect the rights of the elderly.
Success Marketing paid about $5,000 in restitution to its customers, and paid $7,500 to the Oregon Department of Justice Consumer Protection and Education Fund, the attorney general’s office said.
A phone number for Success Marketing in Aurora, Colo., was not in service.
