Toronto – Vernon Wells had four RBIs, Roy Halladay struck out eight over seven innings and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the New York Yankees 15-4 on Wednesday night.

Frank Thomas added three RBIs for the Blue Jays, who have won nine of their past 11 home games. Wells finished 3-for-4 and scored twice as Toronto matched a franchise high with nine doubles.

Robinson Cano hit two home runs, one a two-run shot, and Hideki Matsui added a solo blast, but the Yankees’ five-game winning streak came to an end. Alex Rodriguez sat out because of a bruised calf, a night after getting hit by a pitch from Josh Towers.

Halladay (13-5) gave up four runs and six hits over seven innings.

DEVIL RAYS 7, TIGERS 1 at Detroit: Dioner Navarro had three hits, including a two-run homer, and Tampa Bay snapped an eight-game road losing streak.

Navarro, who homered Tuesday night, is now hitting .201, the first time he is above .200 since May 15. Delmon Young and Carlos Peña both drove in two runs in Tampa Bay’s third win in its past 22 road games.

MARINERS 8, ORIOLES 4 at Baltimore: Jose Vidro homered and drove in four runs and Ichiro Suzuki had three hits in Seattle’s victory.

A’S 6, RANGERS 3 at Arlington, Texas: Rob Bowen went deep from both sides of the plate for his first career multihomer game in Oakland’s victory.

TWINS 11, ROYALS 4 at Kansas City, Mo.: Michael Cuddyer’s towering home run keyed Minnesota’s biggest inning in more than a month, and Johan Santana (12-9) won his ninth straight decision against Kansas City.

WHITE SOX 6, INDIANS 4 at Chicago: Juan Uribe hit a two-run homer off Aaron Foltz in the bottom of the 13th inning.

Scott Podsednik singled with one out in the 13th and Uribe lined a ball over the wall in left center, his 12th homer of the season.

Jose Contreras (6-14), making his first regular-season relief appearance since 2003 while with the Yankees, got the victory by pitching two innings.
