The first human case of West Nile disease has been confirmed in Arapahoe County, mosquitoes from Boulder County have tested positive for the virus, according to statements from government agencies today.

A 57-year-old Aurora man is the 104th person in the state to be diagnosed and the first from Arapahoe County. He has a mild form of the virus and was not hospitalized, according to Tri-County Health Department.

Three people have died this year from West Nile.

The Boulder mosquito samples were gathered around the city on Aug. 8. It is the second time a sample has tested positive.

The city will continue to monitor the mosquito population but won’t conduct spraying, the statement said.
