The annual elk rut is a big draw in parts of Colorado, and sightings of the animals are among the popular reasons for traveling to Yellowstone National Park in the fall, as well, when “elk concerts” are performed throughout the area. For a ringside seat, check out Wildlife Expeditions’ “Elk Bugling, Wolves and Bears in Fall” adventures, two-, three- and four-day trips into the park, which includes lunch at Old Faithful, a tour of the Hayden Valley grizzly habitat and, on the longer tour, a stop at the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and a drive along Yellowstone Lake. The trips are offered Sept. 13-15, 17-18, 20-22 and 27-29, as well as Oct. 11-14 and are limited to eight participants, who spend their time with a wildlife biologist throughout the trip. Rates start at $650 per adult ($495 per child) and include hotel, meals and snacks, gratuities, round-trip transportation from Jackson Hole, Wyo., and the park entrance fee. Wildlife Expeditions is a division of the nonprofit Teton Science Schools in Jackson. Call 888-945-3567 or visit .
