EAGLE, Colo.—A man accused of running over his girlfriend twice with a pickup, leaving her disabled, pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Modesto Lujan, 46, of McCoy, was sentenced Tuesday by Eagle County District Court Judge Fred Gannett.
The woman, who name was withheld, has undergone three surgeries on her legs and can’t work because she can’t stand for long, District Attorney Mark Hurlbert said Tuesday.
“She can really barely walk, and this has caused a significant change in her life,” Hurlbert said.
Prosecutors said the assault was Oct. 17 along Colorado 131. The couple had been arguing.
