So much for the image of models as unhealthy. Superstar Daria Werbowy, one of the faces of Lancome cosmetics and skin care advertising, lives an eco- friendly, organic lifestyle and is an avid snowboarder, according to a story in Women’s Wear Daily’s Beauty Biz magazine. The cosmetics company has made a commitment to reduce the carbon footprints of its models, who travel constantly. calculates the “cost” of their trips and then plants trees to offset the energy use. Webowy also says she eats organic food when possible, takes vitamins, drinks water and snowboards for fun.
At a reunion show of the “Biggest Loser” to air at 7 p.m. Tuesday on NBC-TV, contestants will share what has happened to them since they competed. Most have gained back some of the weight but several interviewed by People magazine in advance of the show say they maintain good diets and work out regularly. Andrea Baptiste, from the first season, has lost eight more pounds on top of the 56 she shed during the show. She runs three times a week, works out with a trainer and packs her lunch. She also admits she keeps chocolate chip cookie dough in the fridge – but bakes only two at a time.
Vogue editor Anna Wintour is a longtime tennis fan and a regular at the U.S. Open matches, particularly when top-ranked Roger Federer plays. But Wintour wasn’t the only fashion powerhouse taking in the action last week. Also on hand at the courts in Flushing Meadows last week, reports Fashion Week Daily, were Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, and Oscar de la Renta.
