Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for residents near Trinidad after a 120-acre fire broke out Wednesday afternoon.

Residents of Las Animas County Road 78.9 and Bear Springs Trail should leave their homes immediately, according to a .

A shelter at the Las Animas County Fairgrounds, 2000 N. Linden Ave. in Trinidad, is being set up. Large animals are also welcome there.

The Bear fire, on County Road 133.8 near the Otero County line, has burned approximately 120 acres.
