ALAMOSA, Colo.—A district judge from Alamosa is being recognized as the state’s Outstanding Judicial Officer of the Year.
The Colorado Judicial Branch has chosen District Judge O.-John Kuenhold as this year’s award recipient.
He was appointed a district judge in 1981. He’s served as chief judge in the 12th District since 2004.
He’s also the water judge for the Rio Grande Basin area, or Water Division 3.
Kuenhold chairs the Colorado Community Corrections Advisory Council, having served in that role for more than 20 years.
Kuenhold says he’s gratified to receive the award, noting there are “many fine judges” in the state.
