A homeless man stabbed repeatedly Saturday night was able to give police information about his attacker before he died, Commerce City police said this morning.

According to Lt. Chuck Saunier, officers responded to a medical call in the area of East 74th Avenue and Magnolia Street about 8:51 p.m.

There they found a 62-year-old man who had been stabbed multiple times in the chest. He died about 10:25 p.m. at a local hospital.

Saunier said that a search of the area resulted in officers locating a “person of interest” who is currently being questioned by detectives. Saunier said his name is not being released pending further investigation and questioning.

The name of the victim is not being released until his next of kin are notified, Saunier added.
