Annie Lennox
at Macky
on Oct. 16|
Annie Lennox defined synth-pop swagger
for a time, her sharp, deep voice and cool demeanor belying
the emotional power
of her songs.
The former Eurythmics singer’s album “Songs of Mass Destruction,” due in October, is typically ambitious, featuring a sprawling feminist anthem with guest appearances from Céline Dion, Fergie, Beth Gibbons, Faith Hill and many others.
It’s unlikely to put her back atop the charts, but commercial dominance seems low on Lennox’s priorities list these days. Tickets for the Oct. 16 show at Boulder’s Macky Auditorium are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($54.50-$69.50, Ticketmaster).
Neil Young is set to release his new disc, “Chrome Dreams II,” on Oct. 16, about three weeks before he hits the Wells Fargo Theatre at the Colorado Convention Center. Fans will get a copy of the CD when they buy tickets to the Nov. 5 show, on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($64-$104, Ticketmaster)
Kelly Clarkson returns to Denver after canceling her overambitious summer tour, which included a July 21 stop at the Pepsi Center. Shelved because of poor ticket sales and revived with a more clear-eyed purpose, the schedule includes a Nov. 5 date at the Paramount Theatre – a better fit for the original “American Idol” winner. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($41, TicketHorse)
Evanescence will headline a road jaunt after supporting Korn for the Family Values tour earlier this year. The goth-pop band plays the World Arena in Colorado Springs on Nov. 25. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($35-$45, TicketsWest)
Cracker can’t seem to get enough of the Front Range. The alt-country-rock act will hit Denver’s Bluebird Theatre on Nov. 16 and Fort Collins’ Aggie Theatre on Nov. 17, with Drive-By Truckers guitarist Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit opening both shows. Tickets for the Aggie are on sale now; tickets for the Bluebird are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($16-$28, Ticketmaster)
Mandy Moore is better known now for acting than music, but the 23-year-old pop singer returned in June with “Wild Hope,” on which she wrote music with such collaborators as Lori McKenna and Rachael Yamagata. Moore plays the Fox Theatre on Oct. 5, with Yamagata opening. Tickets for the all-ages show are on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($22.50, )
Chris Cornell, originally scheduled to play the Fillmore on July 14, now will perform there Nov. 20. Tickets for the July 14 set will be honored at the venue. Additional tickets are available now. ($37.75, Ticketmaster)
