A cheap visit to the Galapagos
Majestic View Nature Center, 7030 Garrison St., is offering a program, “Travel Series: The Galapagos Islands by Land and by Sea,” at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Golden Glow Festival in Allenspark
The third annual Golden Glow Festival will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, September 22, in Allenspark. The free event features local artisans, crafters, musicians, and games and activities for children. Enjoy the fall colors, homemade foods and hot chocolate or apple cider. Aspen Filmfest
Aspen Filmfest runs Sept. 26-30, showcasing some of this year’s most anticipated national and international features and documentaries. A new version of “Sleuth,” directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Michael Caine and Jude Law, is scheduled to have one of its first U.S. screenings. Aspen’s own will be represented when three Aspen filmmakers, actress Judith Light, co-producer Herb Hamsher and writer Robert Desiderio, deliver a special presentation with their Sundance hit, “Save Me.” Also in attendance with a preview of new work will be Emmy Award-winning wildlife documentary filmmakers Dereck and Beverly Joubert of National Geographic. Rio Grande Arts fest
The 19th annual Rio Grande Arts and Crafts Festival will be Oct. 5, 6 and 7 and Oct. 12, 13 and 14 in the “big tent” off the freeway at the southwest corner of I-25 and Paseo del Norte. The juried show features the work of more than 280 artists and craftspeople. The festival also features artist demonstrations, kids activities, food and live music. Admission is $6 for adults per day. A six-day festival pass is $9; a Grande pass, for $13, gives you unlimited admission to the October 2007, December 2007 and March 2008 shows.
