A man was arrested following a high speed chase that wove through numerous Denver suburbs before police collided with the fleeing car in a planned stop maneuver.
A woman who was in the car and screaming at the suspect to stop the car was not arrested, said Heather Wood, Westminster police spokeswoman.
The chase began on the Boulder Turnpike at about 3:10 a.m. when a Colorado State Patrol officer tried to pull the car over for weaving, Wood said.
“The guy took off,” she said. “It went through a bunch of cities.”
The driver eluded capture in several towns before he ran over spikes planted in the road at 92nd Avenue and Federal Boulevard, she said.
The suspect continued to flee on side streets as the tires in his car deflated and the woman in his car yelled at him to stop, Wood said.
A Westminster police officer drove his patrol car into the fleeing vehicle, causing it to spin to a stop at 97th Avenue and Lowell Boulevard, she said.
The driver was taken to a hospital for treatment of a minor bump and will be taken to Lafayette to face various charges, Wood said.
