SAN DIEGO—Josh Johnson threw six touchdown passes, including four to Wes Doyle, as San Diego beat Northern Colorado 49-13 Saturday night.

Johnson, who completed 23 of 31 for 281 yards and ran for 147 yards in three quarters, set a school record for career TD passes with 80. He surpassed Eric Rasmussen’s 75.

The Toreros (3-0) ran up 560 yards in total offense as they won their 21st straight at home.

Johnson rushed for 138 yards in the first half, including a spectacular 89-yard run that set up his two-yard touchdown pass to Doyle, giving the Toreros a 7-0 lead.

Johnson hooked up with John Matthews on a 21-yard touchdown making it 14-0 San Diego before Northern Colorado (0-3) got on the board the final seconds of the first quarter on a 2-yard pass from quarterback Mike Viahogeorge to Ryan Chesla.

Johnson and Doyle teamed up for two more TD passes in the second quarter, one from 17 yards out and the other from the 2 yard line as the Toreros took a 28-6 lead at the half.

San Diego’s J.T. Rogan returned the second half kickoff 94 yards making it 35-6. Johnson finished the night with two more TD passes in the third quarter, including one to Doyle, who finished the night with 11 catches for 132 yards.
