Perry Farrell has long been known as an innovator.

His Jane’s Addiction changed the world of alternative rock. And his Lollapalooza altered the American music festival forever.

Now the rock legend is changing the rock tradition known as the “in-store.”

Whereas many musicians frequent record shops for short, promotional sets in various cities throughout their tours, Farrell and his new band Satellite Party is making a unique stop in Denver tonight at the Apple Store in the Cherry Creek Shopping Center.

“This show is part of Farrell’s ‘flash month’ surprises that he does for his fans,” said a release sent this afternoon from his New York publicity firm.

Farrell’s Satellite Party is slated to play the Gothic Theatre later tonight in Englewood, with Mink opening. Both bands will play shorts sets at the Apple Store tonight, starting at 6 p.m.

The Apple sets are free. Tickets to the Gothic show, $26, are available via ticketmaster.com or 303-830-8497.
