PHOENIX—A 5-year-old Arizona girl abducted earlier this month has been found safe in Colorado and her former stepfather has been arrested in the case, authorities said Wednesday.
Jade Dunn was picked up from school Sept. 6 in Kingman, Ariz., and the girl’s grandmother was contacted days later that Virgil Kosmicki was demanding two ounces of methamphetamine in exchange for the child, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
The FBI on Tuesday tracked Kosmicki and the abducted girl to a residence in Aurora, Colo.
Authorities said Kosmicki had no legal rights regarding custody of the girl, who has been reunited with her mother, Jennifer Dunn, in Kingman.
Kosmicki was being held without bail pending extradition in the case, according to authorities.
