University of Colorado President Hank Brown has been named the National Western Stock Show’s 2008 Citizen of the West.
The Denver-based stock show gives the award each year to a person seen as embodying the Western spirit and ethics. The stock show runs January 17th through 27th.
Brown is a Colorado native and a former Colorado congressman and senator. He was named president of CU in 2005 and has announced that he will resign early next year.
Brown served as president of the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley from 1998 to 2002. He was president and chief executive for the Daniels Fund, a billion-dollar foundation, from 2002 to 2005.
