Hat vendor Donald Price was kicking himself outside Invesco Field at Mile High on Sunday. His table was full of Broncos hats, which weren’t moving very well. He had left his stash of Colorado Rockies hats at home.
“I need to have my head examined; I don’t know what I could have been thinking,” said Price, who sold nine dozen Rockies hats Saturday night.
At the Sportsfan merchandise shop across from Coors Field, fans Saturday depleted racks holding Todd Helton and Matt Holliday home jerseys that sell for $99.99.
Store manager Rick Ryman said his supplier will hustle to get new stocks in for the first home game Sunday in the National League Championship Series. “There’s time,” said a relieved Ryman.
Jennie Bachelor swung by the Coors Field box office to see whether she could get a refund on tickets for Sunday’s unneeded playoff game.
A sign on the closed ticket window said refunds will be offered beginning today. It added hopefully: “An on-sale date for World Series tickets has not been set.”
Bachelor was too late getting tickets from the Rockies for next Sunday, so she paid $135 each on for two Rockpile tickets.
