Saks Fifth Avenue will put a pretty face on an ugly disease Thursday when the Cherry Creek store kicks off its Key to the Cure weekend by staging a fashion show and luncheon that benefits the Denver Health Foundation.

The money is earmarked for programs serving female cancer patients, and several of the volunteer models, including Gail Coors, a breast cancer survivor since 1991, have been touched by the disease.

Her nieces, Ashley Coors and Christi Coors Ficeli, also will model in the 11 a.m. event, along with such other mother-daughter teams as Frances and Monica Owens; Janet and Juju Elway; and Faye Washington and Danielle LaCabe.

The 200 guests also will be invited to buy keys, at $50 each, that could unlock a treasure chest containing prizes like a year’s lease on a Murray Motors Mercedes-Benz or a catered Pepsi Center suite for a Nuggets game.

Saks stores nationwide are taking part in Key to the Cure, donating a percentage of Thursday- through-Sunday sales to the Entertainment Industry Foundation Women’s Cancer Research Fund. Call 303-393-6333.
