DENVER—Whether the Colorado Rockies can come back or not, Denver’s Lodo District expects to be a big winner.

The first World Series game ever in Denver is expected to bring tens of thousands to the area.

And it couldn’t come at a better time. Neither the Broncos nor the Avalanche made the playoffs this year, although the Nuggets did.

The series will put Lodo on the map. Tim Litherland, sports director for the Denver convention bureau, says an event like the series will add to the area’s mystique.

It’s a huge turnaround for the Rockies, who had drawn more than four million fans in their first season. As the team’s performance declined so did its attendance and this year it was two-point-four million.
