A man who apparently had second thoughts about jumping off the Federal Boulevard bridge onto Sixth Avenue was hanging on to the edge of the bridge before he lost his grip and fell onto a passing car, authorities say.

The condition of the man who jumped at 12:37 p.m. is not immediately known, said Lt. Ron Saunier, spokesman for the Denver Police Department. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital.

The man, who has not been identified, fell on the back of a car, breaking the rear window, said Lt. Phil Champagne, spokesman for the Denver Fire Department. A driver and three children were inside the car.

“The children were traumatized,” Champagne said.
