A 43-year-old man was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver early this morning while he was crossing Colfax Avenue at Vaughn Street in Aurora, police say.
The name of the victim was not released pending notification of his family and police say they do not have a suspect in the 2:33 a.m. fatal accident.
There is no crosswalk or traffic control device at that intersection, said Lt. Bruce Smith, Aurora police spokesman.
Witnesses said a white pickup truck sped away from the scene following the collision. Police would like to speak with the driver of the pickup whether he was involved in the accident or not, Smith said.
