Lockheed Martin Space Systems, based in Jefferson County, announced that the modernized Global Positioning System Block IIR satellite it built has been declared fully operational for civil and military users after its launch from Cape Canaveral, Fla., on Oct. 17. The Global Positioning System is used for navigation, tracking time, velocity and location.

AlloSource, a Centennial-based nonprofit provider of skin, bone and soft-tissue allografts, announced a partnership with Keratec Ltd. of New Zealand. Under the agreement, Keratec and AlloSource will jointly develop a next-generation DBM putty for bone grafts, using Keratec’s proprietary Keragraft technology.

Royal Gold Inc., a Denver-based precious-metals royalty company, has commenced a public offering of 1 million shares of its mandatory convertible preferred stock for $100 per share. The stock will be converted to Royal Gold common stock on Nov. 15, 2010.

Humana Inc. announced the expansion of its Medicare presence in the area. Beginning Nov. 15, people eligible for Medicare in Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson counties can enroll in the local Humana Gold Plus HMO plan.

Chipotle Mexican Grill of Denver announced it will no longer serve cheese made with milk from cows treated with the synthetic hormone rBGH (recombinant bovine growth hormone). Chipotle is the first national restaurant chain to eliminate rBGH entirely from items on its menu.

McKesson Health Solutions of Broomfield announced that the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services has extended McKesson’s Medicaid disease-management program for another year.
