The Denver Fire Department on Wednesday announced its first promotion of a woman to assistant fire chief.
Angela Cook was honored at a ceremony this week along with 10 other Denver firefighters promoted to various positions within the department, Lt. Phil Champagne said.
Cook joined the department in March 1992. Her 15-year career includes numerous assignments throughout the city.
Cook has received several commendations during her career.
Interim Fire Chief James Sestrich said, “We are extremely proud of Angela in her accomplishments and in the character of her person.”
Cook is a mother of two sons, Ian and Miles.
