Colorado forward Brad Richardson, sidelined by an offseason wrist injury, on Wednesday finally got medical clearance to play. But the Avalanche immediately reassigned him to their American Hockey League affiliate in Cleveland.

Richardson will play for the AHL’s Lake Erie Monsters.

Richardson, who was injured during offseason workouts before training camp, posted career highs in games played (73), goals (14) and points (22) last season with the Avalanche. Richardson had three shorthanded goals and three game-winning goals last season.
