AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo.—The body of an Air Force pilot who was missing in action for nearly 35 years will be buried at the Air Force Academy next week.
Major John L. Carroll was shot down over Laos in November 1972 during the Vietnam War.
A joint effort by the U.S., Laos and Vietnam found Carroll’s body buried near the crash site.
Carroll’s funeral will be Tuesday at the Cadet Catholic Chapel. He will be buried at the Academy Cemetery.
He was a native of Decatur, Georgia and graduated from the academy in 1962. Survivors include his mother, a son, a daughter and two brothers.
His wife died in August 1995.
