Be still, your beating hearts. Yes, there is talk again that The Jackson 5 could reunite for a tour.
BBC 6 Music reports that Jermaine Jackson says that the brothers — along with Michael — have discussed concert dates that could occur “sometime in 2008.”
“Michael will be involved,” the singer and guitarist confirmed in a story on the BBC’s website. “We feel we have to do it one more time. We owe that to the fans and to the public.”
And there is no way that Michael, recently featured on the cover of Ebony magazine for the 25th anniversary of his Thriller album, could not be a part of the tour. “He has to be,” Jermaine Jackson said. “He is a Jackson.”
The Jackson 5 were known for bubble-gum hits such as “I Want You Back,” “Never Can Say Goodbye,” and “ABC.” The last time they toured was in 1984 for their Victory album. They toured as The Jacksons, with six members.
According to BBC 6, rumors of a reunion tour have been afoot for years, but the project was delayed by Michael Jackson’s 2005 trial for child abuse.
“There’s been so much going on, getting over all the hurdles that we all were faced with during Michael’s trial,” Jermaine said.
“But we are stronger than ever. I’m gonna say thank you, thank you, thank you so much to all the fans and the supporters of my family all over Europe, all over the U.K., especially, who came out to show their love and their support.”
But fans will have to wait for firm concert dates before showing some ’70s love to The Jackson 5 once more.
